Home sweet home...

We've returned from our yearly vacation to Myrtle Beach. We've been going to Myrtle since our honeymoon in Sept. '06. We stay at the same hotel/resort each year We enjoy the beach and especially "people watching". For the past two years we have taken the kids along with us and its been fun watching them have fun on the beach, in the pools, para-sailing, etc... Myrtle Beach is full of entertainment shows, shopping, eating, and especially mini golf. We've done most of it and now its time to vacation a different location.

But first..memories of Myrtle...

Who can resist "River City" an awesome burger joint that I swear is the absolute best!.. Going to River City for lunch or dinner has become a ritual for us each year. We ate there not once..but twice! This place is really unlike any other restaurant...the inside and the outside is covered with license plates from all over... funny ones..plain ones, from all over the U.S. And every last inch of the place is covered with signatures.. "Susie was here-09" So and So loves ?? and on and on.. and it cracks me up to go in and just sit down and start eating peanuts and throwing the shells on the floor...I'm easily amused..haha www.rivercitycafe.com

The Dixie Stampede...The Alabama Theatre.. The Carolina Opry... Good Vibrations... all great shows. I especially liked the shows at the Carolina Opry, both shows held there are "blasts from the past" with songs from then and now. My favorite would have to be "Good Vibrations", they do "Elvira" perfectlly.

The countless early mornings of sea shell hunting..I don't know the specific names of all the shells I have collected from Myrtle..but they sure are purty.

Can't forget all the waves that knocked me on my behind and the attempts of building a sand castle.

On our honeymoon, not far from our hotel on the beach, we were at Pier 14 which also includes a restaurant and gift shop. Browsing around the gift shop, someone caught a shark off the pier. Yes, a REAL shark. Probably 4 feet long...I thought I would climb the walls.

The countless sunburns...oh the sunburns. I did good this year.. I piled on the sun screen.

Myrtle has some pretty friendly people. And the accents are beautiful. You meet a lot of people at Myrtle around the pools of the hotel, you also learn a lot of accents and sayings... "I'll be straight back" "Mama!" makes me laugh to myself.

No matter if you return home with clean clothes or not..wash everything.. or else you will be fighting sand for months.

The honeymoon year was a bit confusing with getting around. Now I know Myrtle Beach better than I do my own town. I got lost in Columbus this year on the return home. Darn 270 and its north, south, east, and west directions...

Its a looong scenic route to Myrtle by car.. lots of thinking time.

So, with all the memories..said here and un-said here.. haha It's time to research a different vacation location. Any suggestions?
